Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. JIA William Wei-Guo, aged 71, is our founder and was appointed as executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer of our Company in April 2015. Since the foundation of our Company, Dr. JIA has served as Chief Scientific Officer, overseeing preclinical research and development. He will continue to hold the position of Chief Scientific Officer of our Group, with responsibilities encompassing the formulation of the Company’s overall R&D strategy and the conduct of preclinical research.

Dr. JIA has accumulated over 30 years of experience in preclinical research and development. He was employed by the University of British Columbia (“UBC”) Department of Surgery since October 1994. He achieved the rank of tenured associate professor in July 1999. During his time at UBC, he was the leader of a laboratory researching natural products and Oncolytic viruses. In order to focus on the management and operation of our Group, he retired voluntarily from UBC in June 2019.

Meanwhile, Dr. JIA has held positions at various corporations and academic institutions. From 2002 to 2005, he held the title of lecture professor at the School of Life Sciences of Fudan University. From 2006 to 2015, he worked as the chief scientist in Shanghai Innovative Research Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine, a company focusing on innovative research of traditional chinese medicine, and was in charge of research and development. Concurrently, from 2008 to 2013, he worked as a review expert at the Canadian Cancer Research Institute.

Dr. JIA obtained a bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology from Fudan University in October 1982. He was awarded a master’s degree in Science from Dalhousie University in Canada in October 1987, and Doctor of Philosophy from the Faculty of Graduate Studies of UBC in May 1991. Subsequently, Dr. JIA was named as one of the Best Medical Scientists in Canada by Time Magazine (Canada edition).
